The Front Porch Cottage

The snow had been falling for hours.
It was storybook snow.

And there it was.
A cottage the color of Delft porcelain.
Walls of winter white, doors the blue of a December twilight, roofline capped in sugared frost.

Inside, you could almost hear the kettle on the stove, the muffled laughter from the parlor, the rustle of paper as presents were tucked under a tree dressed in ribbon and hope.
